Sister taxon: Sichuanchelys chowi
Type specimen: IVPP V18093, a partial skeleton. Its type locality is Wucaiwan area (Sichuanchelys palatodentata type locality), which is in an Oxfordian terrestrial horizon in the Shishugou Formation of China.
