Sister taxa: Stegotherium caroloameghinoi, Stegotherium pascuali, Stegotherium simplex, Stegotherium tauberi, Stegotherium tesselatum, Stegotherium variegatum, Stegotherium variegumum

Type specimen: MLP 84-III-5-10, an osteoderm (25 fragmentary osteoderms). Its type locality is Estancia La Josefina, which is in a Miocene terrestrial horizon in Argentina.

Ecology: ground dwelling omnivore

Distribution:

• Miocene of Argentina (2 collections)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
