Where: Chubut, Argentina (42.8° S, 68.4° W)
• Paleocoordinates: 42.8° S, 56.5° W (Wright 2013)
• coordinate stated in text
• small collection-level geographic resolution
When: La Colonia Formation, Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)
• upper facies (sensu Pascual et al., 2000) of the La Colonia Formation
• bed-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: marine; muddy sandstone
Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils, microfossils
• more than 350 gastroliths
Collected by J. O'Gorman, A. Carignano, P. Puerta in 2021; reposited in the MEF
Collection methods: bulk, surface (in situ), peroxide,
• One sample of 0.50 kg of the surrounding rock was collected for nanno- and microfossil analysis. Repository numbers for nano- and microfossils are MPEF PI-7209 to 7234. To recover the calcareous microfossils, the sample was submerged for 24 hours in water and hydrogen peroxide (10%), washed through a 63 mm (Tyler 230) sieve with tap water and finally, oven dried (30o C).
