Stratigraphy
Geological group:Beaufort Formation:Teekloof Member:Poortjie
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: Beaufort West Commonage was listed as Cistecephalus Assemblage Zone in Kitching, 1977 (and was referred previously as Endothiodon Assemblage Zone) before the definition of the Tropidostoma Assemblage Zone (see Rubidge & Keyser, 1995). Posterior works, as Kammerer et al., 2011, identify fossils from this locality as pertaining to the both the Tropidostoma and the Cistecephalus Assemblage Zones.

Direct dates for the Tropidostoma and Cistecephalus Assemblage Zones from Rubidge et al., 2013
