Taxonomy
Talpa praeglacialis was named by Kormos (1930). Its type locality is Betfia 2, which is in a Pleistocene cave horizon in Romania.

Kormos 1930 | Zahl der Foramina mentalia mandibulae 2-4, in der Hälfte der Fälle mehr als 2; von denen das ersts stets unter dem p2, das zweite zwischen den zwei Wurzeln des m1 und das dritte, mittlere unter dem p4 situiert is. manchmal kommt neben dem ersten Foramen auch noch ein viertes vor. Processus coronoideus breit, oben abgerundet; Fossa temporalis vorn mässig, hinten -gegen den Conylus zu - mehr augehöhlt.
Die untere Zahnreihe is viel mehr zusammengedrängt, wei bei Talpa europaea. Der p3 is dadurch in seiner Achse ein wenig verschoben und mit seiner Hinterspitze nach aussen gestellt. Die zwei ersten Backenzähne sind auf der Lingualseite durch je eineen starken Talonidhöcker gekennzeichnet, welcher anden Nächsten Zahn fest anliegt. Der vordere, linguale Nebenhöcker ist dagegen sehr schwach entwickelt. Die Hinterhälfte des m3 ist sehr schmal. |
