Taxonomy
Platyschisma was named by M'Coy (1844) [Sepkoski's age data: D Eife-u P Leon Sepkoski's reference number: 36,797,1004]. It is not extant. Its type is Ampullaria helicoides. It is the type genus of Platyschismatinae.

It was assigned to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Platyschismatinae by Knight et al. (1960), Bouchet et al. (2005); and to Platyceratidae by Wagner (2023).
