Indophis sahnii

Taxonomy
Indophis sahnii was named by Rage and Prasad (1992). Its type specimen is VPL/JU/500; PG Department of Geology, University of Jammu, a set of vertebrae, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Naskal microvertebrate site, which is in a Maastrichtian fluvial-lacustrine mudstone/mudstone in India. It is the type species of Indophis.

Prasad 1992Tiny snake having rather elongate, narrow, high and lightly built vertebrae that display the following combination of characters: zygapophysial plane located at a high level; axis of prezygapophysial articular facets oblique; true prezygapophysial processes lacking; median notch in the posterior border of neural arch absent (except, perhaps, in the most posterior caudal vertebrae; see below); neural arch depressed but lying at a high level; paradiapophyses located low; neural spine high and restricted to the posterior half of the neural arch; hypapophysis present on anterior trunk vertebrae only; paracotylar, lateral
and parazygantral foramina irregularly present.
