Taxonomy
Nautilus altifrons was named by Chapman (1915) [TYPE LOCALITY: Murray River Cliffs, South Australia]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Murray River Cliffs (probably near Blanchetown), which is in a Langhian carbonate limestone in Australia.

It was recombined as Eutrephoceras altifrons by Kummel (1956), McGowran (1959).
