Taxonomy
Balaenoptera brydei was named by Olsen (1913). It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Balaenoptera edeni by Junge (1950), Mead and Brownell (2005); it was recombined as Balaenoptera edeni brydei by Hassanin et al. (2012).
