Taxonomy
Carinaropsis (Phragmostoma) cymbula was named by Hall (1861). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Phragmostoma cymbula by Miller (1889); it was recombined as Carinaropsis cymbula by Ulrich and Scofield (1897), Grabau and Shimer (1909), Bassler (1932), Knight et al. (1960), Wahlman (1992) and Wagner (2023).
