Taxonomy
Eoanilius europae was named by Rage (1974). Its type specimen is (Universite de Montpellier) MAL 550 (single mid-trunk vertebra) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Malperie, which is in a Priabonian karst phosphorite in the Perrière Formation of France.
