Taxonomy
Eurhinodelphis sigmoideus was named by Pilleri (1985). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Libano, which is in an Aquitanian marine sandstone in the Libano Sandstone Formation of Italy.

It was considered an invalid subgroup of Eurhinodelphis by Bianucci and Landini (2002); it was recombined as Ziphiodelphis sigmoideus by Lambert (2004), Fornasiero and Del Vavero (2014).
