Taxonomy
Prodesmodon copei was named by Estes (1964). Its type specimen is UCMP 55783, a set of vertebrae (dorsal vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lull 2 Quarry (UCMP V-5620), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone in the Lance Formation of Wyoming.
