Taxonomy
Tagicetus joneti was named by Lambert et al. (2005). Its type specimen is IRSNB M. 1892, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Penedo Norte, which is in a Serravallian marine sandstone in Portugal.
