Streptospondylus altdorfensis

Taxonomy

Streptospondylus altdorfensis was named by Meyer (1832). Its type specimen is MNHN 8605-09, 8787-89, 8793-94, 8907, a set of postcrania, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vaches Noires, near Honfleur, which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian marine marl in France.

It was synonymized subjectively with Steneosaurus rostromajor by Walker (1964).

Synonyms

Laelaps gallicus was named by Cope (1867). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Poicilopleurum gallicum by Cope (1870); it was synonymized subjectively with Streptospondylus altdorfensis by Allain (2001), Holtz et al. (2004), Carrano et al. (2012).
