Lusotitan atalaiensis
Taxonomy
Brachiosaurus atalaiensis was named by Lapparent and Zbyszewski (1957). Its type specimen is MIGM 4798, 4801–10, 4938, 4944, 4950, 4952, 4958, 4964–66, 4981–82, 4985, 8793–99, a set of postcrania, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Atalaia, near Peralta, which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian fluvial claystone in the Lourinhã Formation of Portugal.
It was recombined as Astrodon atalaiensis by Kingham (1962); it was recombined as Lusotitan atalaiensis by Antunes and Mateus (2003), Mateus (2006), Royo-Torres et al. (2006), Royo-Torres et al. (2007), Escaso et al. (2007), Ortega et al. (2009), Canudo et al. (2010), Ortega et al. (2010), Mateus and Milàn (2010), D'Emic (2012), Mannion et al. (2013), Salgado et al. (2015), Mocho et al. (2016), Mocho et al. (2017), Mocho et al. (2019).
