Taxonomy
Imerocetus karaganicus was named by Mchedlidze (1964). Its type specimen is IPB 146, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dzhalaurt village, which is in a Tortonian marine horizon in Georgia.
