Gyposaurus sinensis
Taxonomy
Gyposaurus sinensis was named by Young (1940). Its type specimen is IVPP AS V.24, a partial skull (Parts of left upper and lower jaws), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shawan, Lufeng, which is in a Hettangian terrestrial sandstone in the Lufeng Formation of China.
It was synonymized subjectively with Lufengosaurus huenei by Rozhdestvensky (1965), Galton (1976), Galton and Cluver (1976), Rozhdestvensky (1977); it was recombined as Anchisaurus sinensis by Dong (1992).

C.-C. Young 1951 | Small Prosauropoda about the size of Gyposaurus capenensis. Teeth of general Thecodontosaurus-type with anterior and posterior coarse serrations. Vertebrae number probably: neck 10, dorsal 15, sacrum 5 and tail?. Anterior limb extremely short, scapula vigorously bending at the base of the shaft. Pelvic girdle rather slender with the ilium high. Both hand and foot with distinct lateral reduction. |
