Squalodon barbarus
Taxonomy
Squalodon barbarus was named by Mchedlidze and Aslanova (1968) [It is not clear where this species was named. Mchedlidze (1976) clearly states that "A detailed description of the holotype was coauthored with S. M. Aslanova under the term Squalodon barbarus and published by him in 1969." I cannot locate this paper, nor is it listed in any bibliography of Mchedlidze's work.]. Its type specimen is IP No. S2/26, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Perekishkyul, which is in a Chattian marine horizon in Azerbaijan.
It was recombined as Kelloggia barbarus by Mchedlidze (1976).
