Ennacodon crassus
Taxonomy
Enneodon crassus was named by Marsh (1887). Its type specimen is USNM 2130, a mandible (right mandible with C, P3-4, and M1-4), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Quarry 9, Como Bluff (YPM), which is in a Kimmeridgian/Tithonian fluvial-lacustrine mudstone/sandstone in the Morrison Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Ennacodon, Enneodon.
It was recombined as Ennacodon crassus by Hay (1902), Simpson (1927), Hay (1930); it was recombined as Docodon crassus by Simpson (1929), Kron (1979), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
