Taxonomy
Murchisonia tortuosa was named by Lindström (1884). Its type locality is Stora Vede, which is in a Sheinwoodian deep subtidal ramp limestone/marl in the Slite Beds Formation of Sweden.
It was recombined as Lophospira tortuosa by Ulrich and Scofield (1897); it was recombined as Frodospira tortuosa by Wagner (1999), Wagner (2023).
