Taxonomy
Limnocyon agilis was named by Marsh (1872). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grizzly Buttes, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
It was recombined as Sinopa agilis by Scott (1892), Matthew (1899), Matthew (1901), Wortman (1902); it was recombined as Stypolophus agilis by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Tritemnodon agilis by Matthew (1906), Matthew (1909), Thorpe (1923), Gazin (1976), Gingerich and Deutsch (1989), Gunnell (1998).
