Synoplotherium lanius
Taxonomy
Synoplotherium lanius was named by Cope (1872) [genotype]. Its type specimen is AMNH FM 5022, a partial skeleton (partial right and left dentaries, premaxillary and maxillary fragments bearing right I2–I3 and right and left C1, partial right and left manus, and additional, ), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mammoth Butte, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Washakie Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Synoplotherium.
It was recombined as Mesonyx lanius by Cope (1880), Cope (1880), Hay (1902).
