Taxonomy
Sespemys thurstoni was named by Wilson (1934) [genotype]. Its type locality is Kew Quarry, which is in a Whitneyan/Arikareean terrestrial claystone/sandstone in the Sespe Formation of California. It is the type species of Sespemys.
