Proscalops miocaenus
Taxonomy
Proscalops miocaenus was named by Matthew (1901). Its type specimen is AMNH 8949a, a partial skull (broken skull with posterior rostrum, zygomatic arch, P2-M3, and occluded posterior part of mandible with M1-M3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vista, which is in a Whitneyan terrestrial horizon in the White River Formation of Colorado. It is the type species of Proscalops.
