Taxonomy
Ostrea (Liostrea) acuminata was named by Sowerby (1816). It is not extant. It is the type species of Praeexogyra.

It was recombined as Ostrea acuminata by Sowerby (1816); it was recombined as Praeexogyra acuminata by Charles and Maubeuge (1953).
