Taxonomy
Trophon magister was named by Nomland (1916). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP 2098, which is in a Pliocene marginal marine sandstone/conglomerate in the Jacalitos Formation of California.
It was recombined as Forreria magister by Grant, IV and Gale (1931), Winterer and Durham (1962).
