Taxonomy
Parascombrops yanceyi was named by Lin and Nolf (2022). Its type specimen is IRSNB P 10157, an otolith (sagitta), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pin Oak Creek, which is in a Bartonian offshore horizon in the Cook Mountain Formation of Texas.
