Palaeosinopa nunavutensis

Taxonomy
Palaeosinopa nunavutensis was named by Eberle and McKenna (2002). Its type specimen is CMN 30810, a tooth (Rm2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ellesmere Island (Lower), which is in a Wasatchian deltaic horizon in the Margaret Formation of Canada.

McKenna 2002Large species of Palaeosinopa, comparable in size to Palaeosinopa veterrima and larger than Palaeosinopa didelphoides and Pantolestes longicaudus; m2, particularly trigonid, more transverse than other species of Palaeosinopa and P. longicaudus; metaconid and protoconid of same height, but metaconid more inflated than protoconid; paraconid better developed than Pantolestes, but smaller than that of P . veterrima and P . didelphoides; talonid longer, although narrower, than trigonid, and open lingually; entocristid absent.
