Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
F. Agnolín et al. 2024Small-sized sphenodontine diagnosable by the following combination of characters: labial surface of maxilla entirely straight (convex in Sphenodon) and lacking ornamentation or foramina, and lingual surface strongly convex (much less convex to straight in Sphenodon). Teeth relatively low, with narrow base, smooth crown (ornamented in Lamarquesaurus), well-separated to each other (more imbricate in Sphenodon), and with thick enamel (thin enamel in Sphenodon). Caniniform having a posterolingual flange (absent in Sphenodon) and extensive lingual wear facet (absent in Sphenodon and sphenodontine MACN-PV RN 1062; Apesteguía and Jones 2012).
