Taxonomy
Coluber plioagellus was named by Wilson (1968). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is WaKeeny (UM-K6-59), which is in a Clarendonian channel sandstone/claystone in the Ogallala Formation of Kansas.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Rage (1984).
