Taxonomy
Dicotyles nasutus was named by Leidy (1868). It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Tayassu nasutus by Hay (1902); it was synonymized subjectively with Mylohyus fossilis by Ray (1967), Westgate and Messick (1985), Wright (1995), Hulbert and Pratt (1998); it was recombined as Mylohyus nasutus by Cope (1889), Gidley (1920), Lundelius (1960), Semken and Griggs (1965), Kurten and Anderson (1980), Dutra et al. (2017).
