Taxonomy
Oxydactylus exilis was named by Matthew and Macdonald (1960). Its type specimen is AMNH 12997, a partial skeleton (partial skull and fore and hind limbs), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH Rosebud 5, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Rosebud Formation of South Dakota.
It was recombined as Michenia exilis by Honey and Taylor (1978), Honey et al. (1998), Honey (2007).
