Merychippus eohipparion

Taxonomy
Merychippus eohipparion was named by Osborn (1918). Its type specimen is AMNH 9402, a partial skeleton (lower jaws, fore and hind limbs and feet, and several vertebrre, all belonging to a single individual), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Merychippus (Merychippus) eohipparion by Stirton (1940); it was considered a nomen dubium by Macdonald (1992).

widely separated, deeply grooved in upper part o_f crown, flattening out at base of crown; (3) outer surface of protoconid and metaconid not flattened; (4) anterior ci,ngulum forming a prominent plate externally on lower half of tooth, wanting above; (5) heel of rna small toward crown, elongate toward the base, the crescents strongly recurved at inner side toward the base of tooth; (6) incisors large. (7) Antorbital region of skull moderately elongate. (8) Shaft of ulna moderately reduced, imperfectly united in the immature type; (9) metapodials long, lateral digits moderately reduced; (10) ungual phalanges narrow and short.
