Taxonomy
Plagioctenoides cryptos was named by Jones and Beard (2023). Its type specimen is CM 70158, a tooth (left p4), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Big Multi Locality, which is in a Clarkforkian floodplain mudstone in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming.
