Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
E. A. Musacchio 1973Large, swollen shell, with a relatively widely and weakly concave in the middle, near the contact between the valves. Left valve greater than right valve. Contour in lateral view normally subtriangular rounded, but not uniform in all specimens, with the greatest height approximately in the middle part: vantral edge subrectilinear. Contour in dorsal view with maximum width very slightly behind the middle part and acuminate forward. Edge hinge straight, in a groove, and inclined backwards from the maximum height. The outer margin of the right valve at the ventral end above is left without coverage by the left valve and appears denoted due to a weak subsequent depression, which does not form, however, a true “face.” Ornamentation consisting of a network of fine ridges, somewhat aligned near the margins, five papillae very close to the edge anterior and other minor papillae present in the posterior and also on the rest of the surface of the valves.
