Derivation of name. Gr. ckvm glochinos, point of an arrow. With reference to the aspect of an arrowhead that this species presents in dorsal view.

Taxonomy
Aversovalva glochinos was named by Ceolin et al. (2015). Its type specimen is LM-FCEN 3293, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Azul CA 21, which is in a Danian marine siltstone in the Jagüel Formation of Argentina.
