Taxonomy
Leptacodon packi was named by Jepsen (1930). Its type locality is Princeton Quarry, which is in a Tiffanian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming.

It was recombined as Diacodon packi by Van Valen (1967).
