Taxonomy
Muntiacus noringenensis was named by Dong (2007). Its type specimen is IVPP V13086 (a nearly complete shed right antler) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is IVPP locality CD9805, which is in a Miocene terrestrial sandstone in China.
