Hypertragulus planiceps

Taxonomy
Allomeryx planiceps was named by Sinclair (1905) [genotype]. Its type specimen is UCMP 104, a partial skull (Cranium), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Allomeryx.

It was recombined as Hypertragulus planiceps by Frick (1937), Whistler and Lander (2003); it was recombined as Nanotragulus planiceps by Webb (1998), Vislobokova (2001), Albright et al. (2008).

Sinclair 1905Dentition ~,~,;i',~. pa three rooted. p4 with inner and 0uter crescents. :Molars without mesostyle, ex- ternal ribs prominent and about equally developed. :Metastyle on l\cP much produced. Forehead flat. Sagittal. crest low and not elevated above interorbital plane, terminating posteriorly in a prominent triangular knob. Brain case well rounded' at sides, somewhat flattened above. Orbits prominent and completely inclosed with strongly developed frontal and jugal processes. A prelachrymal vacuity pre~ent. Bullae small, with outgrowth of petrosal between bulla and basioccipital.
