Khargachelys caironensis

caironensis honors Cairo, the capital city of Egypt, and honors Cairo University
Taxonomy
Khargachelys caironensis was named by AbdelGawad et al. (2023). Its type specimen is NVP005, a shell (complete carapace and plastron), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Qarn Gennah, which is in a Campanian fluvial sandstone in the Quseir Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Khargachelys.
