Taxonomy
Hapalorestes lovei was named by Gunnell and Gingerich (1996) [genotype]. Its type locality is Flattop Quarry, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Aycross Formation of Wyoming. It is the type species of Hapalorestes.
