Ruixinia zhangi
Taxonomy
Ruixinia zhangi was named by Mo et al. (2023). Its type specimen is ELDM EL-J009, a partial skeleton (postcranial skeleton), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Batuyingzi, Beipiao, which is in a Barremian/Aptian lacustrine - large shale in the Yixian Formation of China. It is the type species of Ruixinia.

Mo et al. 2023 | A medium size sauropod dinosaur (estimated length about 12 m) with the following autapomorphic features: distinct foramina present at the anterodorsal corner of the pleurocoels of the mid-posterior dorsals; anterior caudal neural spines bifid; anterior caudal neural spines with projecting subtriangular processes on the anterodorsal margin of the neural spines; distinct grooves present on the lateral surface of neural arches in Ca2-12, just dorsal to the base of the caudal ribs; a transition point present between Ca22 and Ca23 with Ca1-22 much larger than more posterior caudals in size; distalmost six caudals fused; Ch18 with a bifurcated posterior process; Ch20 approximately pentagonal in lateral view; Ch23-36 plank-shaped and unfused distally; lateral bulge on the lateral surface of the posterior lobe of the ilium; posterior margin of the tibial shaft strongly convex. |
