Powellophis andina
Taxonomy
Powellophis andina was named by Garberoglio et al. (2022). Its type specimen is PVL 4714, a partial skeleton (articulated skeleton with crania and precloacal vertebrae and ribs), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Near Mina Aguilar, 29 km south of Tres Cruces (PVL), which is in a Selandian/Thanetian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in the Mealla Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Powellophis.
