Mastodon morrilli
Taxonomy
Mastodon morrilli was named by Barbour (1914) [genotype]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Devil's Gulch Quarry, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Valentine Formation of Nebraska. It is the type species of Eubelodon.
It was recombined as Trilophodon morrilli by Osborn (1918); it was recombined as Gomphotherium morrilli by Tobien (1973); it was recombined as Eubelodon morrilli by Barbour (1914), Frick (1933) and Shoshani and Tassy (1996).
