Taxonomy
Hadrokirus novotini was named by Hafed et al. (2023). Its type specimen is CMM-V-10319, a mandible (incomplete body of right mandible missing vertical part of ramus, symphysis, and most of the body), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Meherrin River, which is in a Pliocene marine horizon in the Yorktown Formation of North Carolina.
