Hadrokirus novotini

Taxonomy
Hadrokirus novotini was named by Hafed et al. (2023). Its type specimen is CMM-V-10319, a mandible (incomplete body of right mandible missing vertical part of ramus, symphysis, and most of the body), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Meherrin River, which is in a Pliocene marine horizon in the Yorktown Formation of North Carolina.

Hafed et al. 2023Right mandible (Figure 1D, E, F) characterised by large, thick and heavy mandibular body; all alveoli of p3-m1 oriented parallel with axis of mandibular body (p1-p2 absent); alveoli of p3-p4 double– rooted; m1 has round alveolus and is also double–rooted; posterior alveolus of m1 shorter than anterior; ascending mandibular ramus broken; horizontal ramus thickened towards ascending ramus; large mandibular foramen on lingual side; labial side has multiple mental foramina at level of p3-p4; retromandibular space short.
