Cladoscenium was named by Haeckel (1882) [1e. Tribe: Archiperida. Closed monocyrtids with three radial appendages. B. Acute Archiperida (cephalis spiny, not smooth). BII. The interior of the test with a central axis (with the cephalic spine prolonged downward into an axial rod which joins in the central aperture with three feet). IIb. With three branched feet.(Translated from Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]. It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Haeckel (1882).

It was assigned to Sethoperidae by Haeckel (1882).
