Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
S. E. Edgar et al. 2022 | The new taxon Jimemys glaebosus gen. et sp. nov. is diagnosed by the following autapomorphies within Plastomenidae: enlarged, rounded tubercles with smaller intermittent shallow pits across the dorsal surface of the carapace, pygal notch with a straight anterior edge and bordered laterally by costals VII, anteriorly emarginate nuchal, and fused hyo-hypoplastron. Within Plastomenidae, J. glaebosus is similar to Plastomenus thomasii, Helopanoplia distincta Hay, 1908, and Hutchemys spp. and different from Aspideretoides foveatus, Atoposemys superstes, and Gilmoremys spp., in having broad midline contact between the xiphiplastra and hypoplastra. It differs from P. thomasii in that the lateralmargin of the hyo-hypoplastron is straight instead of concave, and a posterior pygal notch bordered by the costals VII is present. It is similar to P. thomasii and different from Helopanoplia distincta, and Hutchemys spp. in that the hyo-hypoplastral bridge is narrow. |
