Taxonomy
Polycotylus sopozkoi was named by Efimov et al. (2016) [UPM = Undory Paleontological Museum]. Its type specimen is UPM 247, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Izhberda Quarry, which is in a Campanian marine sandstone/conglomerate in the Russian Federation.
