Taxonomy
Kennedycetus pericorum was named by Solis-Añorve et al. (2021). Its type specimen is MHN-UABCS-CSLP01, a partial skull (partial cranium, the most preserved region is the left side, and the rostral region is mostly not preserved. The bone labeled as the tympanic bulla is actually ), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Los Pocitos, which is in a Miocene/Piacenzian marine sandstone in the Trinidad Formation of Mexico. It is the type species of Kennedycetus.
